Thanks to a joint initiative between the department and W+ST Kaiserslautern, students from the Accounting Talent Pool gained exciting behind-the-scenes insights into the Barbarossa Bakery. The excursion offered participants the opportunity to get to know a major company in the Saar-Pfalz region better and to gain practical insights into finance and accounting. To kick things off, the Barbarossa Bakery team led a tour through the company’s production areas. This allowed the students to gain a firsthand impression of the processes and organization of a modern large-scale bakery operation. This was followed by a professional discussion with Christiane Schäffler (Commercial Director of Barbarossa Bakery) as well as Simone Hemmer and Matthias Reichert (both Managing Directors at W+ST). The focus was on topics related to commercial processes, accounting, and corporate management. There was also plenty of time for informal interaction: During an extensive tasting of the baked goods, there was plenty of time for conversation and networking. With over 800 employees and around 70 branches, Barbarossa Bäckerei GmbH & Co. KG represents an important economic sector in the Saar-Pfalz region. Many thanks to Simone Hemmer, Matthias Reichert, and Christiane Schäffler for their cooperation and the exciting insights!
