Content
This course deals with the basic concepts of industrial economics. The strategic behaviour of companies is examined with the help of theoretical models.
The following core topics are discussed:
- Monopoly: one good, several goods, price discrimination
- Static oligopoly: price competition (Bertrand), quantity competition (Cournot), differentiated goods (Hotelling and Salop), capacity constraints
- Dynamic oligopoly: collusion, varying demand, unobservable deviations
Competences and intended learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module, students will be able to
