Research Assistant

Firat Aykut has been a research assistant and doctoral student at the Chair of Data Analytics since 2026. He successfully completed his Bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Mannheim and his Master's degree in Economics with a focus on Financial Econometrics/Macroeconomics at the University of Heidelberg.

Running track, he gained versatile research experience at KfW Bankengruppe and Accenture Dienstleistungen GmbH, where he supported the analysis of macroeconomic developments and international stock markets and contributed to trend analyses on the implementation of artificial intelligence in the manufacturing industry.

His research focuses on the data-driven analysis of demand and substitution patterns in the retail sector. His main areas of work are the empirical investigation of price effects, in particular price and cross-price elasticities, as well as the identification of competitive and substitution relationships between products. Methodologically, his research combines economic theory with quantitative, data-based procedures in order to derive interpretable findings on market and consumer behavior.
