Prof. Anja Danner-Schröder convenes Routine Dynamics Sub-theme at EGOS Conference

Prof. Anja Danner-Schröder convened a sub-theme on routine dynamics at this year’s EGOS Conference. The sub-theme brought together international scholars to discuss current developments in routine dynamics research and to explore new perspectives on organizational routines in the more than human sphere.

Across several paper sessions, keynote contributions and interactive discussions, participants examined how routines unfold in relation to technologies, materiality, environments, infrastructures and other more than human actors. The discussions highlighted how organizational routines are shaped not only by human action, but also by the wider social, material and ecological contexts in which organizing takes place.

In addition to convening the sub-theme, Prof. Danner-Schröder also presented her own research. Together with Kathrin Lemm and Christian Mahringer, she introduced the paper “Strategic Consequentiality in the Making: Unpacking the Unfolding of Means and Ends through Recursive Strategic Consenting.” The presentation contributed to the ongoing discussion on how strategic relevance emerges through everyday organizational practices and routines.

The sub-theme provided an inspiring forum for intensive scholarly exchange, constructive feedback and the further development of ongoing research projects. It also offered an important opportunity to strengthen the international routine dynamics community and to reflect on future directions for the field.
