Introduction to the Philosophy of Science for Economists

In this PhD-course, basic concepts concerning the philosophy of science for economists will be presented and discussed. In the first part, the  lecture focusses on the central notion of philosophy of science and determines its historical and systematic background. In particular, the preconditions for convincing scientific theories are explained. In a second step, the participants are able to apply these insights to their respective study areas. Teamwork is possible. The participants are also encouraged to  deepen their knowledge in personal discussions. In a final session, the participants will present and discuss selected results.
