Bachelor seminar SS 2024

 

The bachelor's seminar will examine how ChatGPT and similar AI-based tools can be used to support balance sheet analyses. The application of ChatGPT within this subject area requires a sound understanding of the relevant aspects of balance sheet analysis and how the AI tools work. For this reason, the specific requirements as well as the methods and criteria for effective balance sheet analysis must first be developed as part of a literature review.


Possible focal points for the literature research could be:

  • Fundamentals of balance sheet analysis and financial reporting according to international financial reporting standards (IFRS) or commercial law regulations (HGB).
  • Different key figures and their significance in balance sheet analysis.
  • Pitfalls and challenges in the interpretation of balance sheets.
  • Relevant regulatory requirements in the area of financial reporting.

 

Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer sind ermutigt, eigene Ideen und Schwerpunkte einzubringen, basierend auf persönlichem Interesse oder aktuellen Entwicklungen im Bereich der Bilanzanalyse. Dies könnten beispielsweise folgende Themen sein:

  • die Integration von ESG-Kriterien (Umwelt, Soziales, Governance) in die Bilanzanalyse
  • die Anwendung von ChatGPT für die Früherkennung von potenziellen Risiken in Bilanzen
  • Bilanzen von Unternehmen derselben Branche innerhalb der Indizes DAX40, MDAX und SDAX analysieren und miteinander vergleichen
  • In Fußballvereinen, öffentlichen Einrichtungen, NGOs / NPOs
  • etc.

 

The combination of innovative AI technology such as ChatGPT with a thorough literature review will help to develop an effective and knowledge-based approach to financial statement analysis. We look forward to a productive collaboration and exploring new opportunities in the field of financial analysis.


Knowledge from the business specialization block "Accounting & Finance" is recommended.
