Prof. Danner-Schröder convenes a sub-theme at EGOS 2027 on “Extreme Contexts”
We’re excited to share that the subtheme has been accepted for EGOS 2027 in Liverpool!
“Addressing Dualities of Resilience and Vulnerability in Extreme Contexts”
Research on extreme contexts has shown a striking duality: the same conditions that give rise to resilience, learning, improvisation, and meaningful work can also produce vulnerability, trauma, impaired decision-making, and loss of meaning. Rather than treating these as separate phenomena, this subtheme invites a broader perspective on how “good” and “bad” co-emerge in and from extreme situations.
We particularly encourage work that explores:
• how resilience and vulnerability emerge across levels and over time
• how they shape and even create what becomes experienced as “extreme”
• how different perspectives and contexts influence whether adversity leads to growth or breakdown

We look forward to engaging with the extreme context community and to inspiring discussions in Liverpool!
