Guest Lecture at the University of Tokyo at Professor Numada Muneyoshi: Discussing Resilience, Risks, and Inter-Organizational Cooperation

 It was a great pleasure and honor to be invited by Professor Numada Muneyoshi to deliver a lecture at the renowned University of Tokyo on the topic “How High-Reliability Networks Are Managing Risks and Uncertainties: Evidence from the German City of Düsseldorf.” The lecture took place on June 2, 2026,  in a hybrid format and brought together researchers, practitioners, and students both in person and online. I was particularly pleased with the lively and stimulating discussion that followed, during which we were able to engage in an in-depth exchange on the challenges of interorganizational coordination, dealing with uncertainty, and the resilience of complex networks in crisis and disaster situations. I would like to extend my special thanks to Professor Muneyoshi Numada for the kind invitation, the excellent organization, and the inspiring academic exchange. His work at the Disaster Management Training Center at the University of Tokyo makes an important contribution to international research on resilience, disaster preparedness, and governance.
