"ECHO" - First Edition on Circular Economy

"The circle closes" – a saying that often conveys a sense of natural completion. But anyone familiar with the circular economy knows: the circle doesn’t close on its own. Between the starting point and the endpoint lie many possible paths and junctions that require our active involvement. We need new approaches to the life cycle of products and materials—approaches that enable use throughout their entire lifespan. At the same time, we must rethink values and business models, moving away from the depletion of finite resources. Ultimately, all these changes must be implemented in our society as efficiently as possible.

This very challenge is the focus of the "Circular Economy Research Forum." From May 19 to 20, 2025, the University of Liège invites researchers from the Greater Region to an exciting scientific forum to collectively reflect on the key levers of the circular economy.

This international event marks the launch of the new UniGR event series "Echo", which promotes cross-border exchange among early-career researchers in the region. It also ties into the diverse activities of the UniGR-CIRKLA project, which is funded by the Interreg Grande Région – Greater Region 2021–2027 program.
