Workshop with BBS Wittlich: Artificial intelligence meets design thinking

On June 23, 2025, a group of students from the vocational school (BBS) in Wittlich visited the RPTU campus in Kaiserslautern. As part of an interactive workshop, the students gained exciting insights into the innovation and creativity method of design thinking - and how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to support this.

At the beginning, the participants were given a theoretical introduction to the design thinking method, which focuses on users and their needs. The aim of this method is to develop products and services that solve real problems and meet people's needs.

It was then shown how AI can be meaningfully integrated into the design thinking process. The focus was particularly on creative applications in which the students themselves became active: They were able to try out various AI tools and experience how humans and machines can complement each other in the innovation process.

The workshop not only offered the opportunity to build methodological skills, but also to gain initial practical experience with pioneering technologies.
