Throughout the lecture, students will delve into the fundamentals of the CE, comprehending its core concepts and frameworks, and examining how CE ecosystems are thoughtfully structured, engaging diverse stakeholders and mindsets. Students will have the opportunity to gain profound insights into circular business models and will be exposed to practical knowledge on applying the Circular Business Model Canvas. Moreover, we delve into the pivotal role that digitalization plays in accelerating the adoption and effectiveness of circular economy principles. Students will gain insights into how cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and data analytics enable more efficient resource management, supply chain optimization, and waste reduction. Moreover, the lecture will explore successful case studies of businesses and industries that have integrated digital solutions to transition toward circular practices. |

Overview | Organizations are bounded by the environmental and social systems around them - their context. From a strategic perspective, companies are expected to look beyond their own boundaries and take into account their context. This holds especially true when considering sustainability of a specific organization and its operations. Context refers to the different circumstances that determine whether or not a specific performance is considered sustainable or not. In this course, students will learn how a specific context can be established and analyzed to measure, manage and report sustainability. Students analyze and discuss the peculiarities of sustainability in different contexts (country, industry, firm size...). The specific focus of this course depends on the respective lecturer. |
