The Open Digitization Alliance Palatinate is a joint project of Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences, the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau and the direct partners Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics (ITWM) and the Leibniz Institute for Composite Materials Kaiserslautern (IVW). The project strengthens the transfer of ideas, knowledge and technology with industry and society and further develops the regional innovation system and special aspects of digitalization. The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of the federal-state initiative "Innovative University".

The Open Digitalization Alliance Palatinate is divided into several sub-projects whose common cross-cutting theme is digitalization and the impact of digital transformation. The overarching transfer funding sub-project handles and coordinates the transfer tasks. In addition, the four innovation areas (IB) Work, Collaborative Digital Engineering, Sustainability & Resource Efficiency and Health represent the subject-oriented, topic-specific transfer. They address the needs of the Palatinate region and reflect the scientific expertise of the two universities. The two other sub-projects, Creativity and Citizen Science, show possibilities for the topic-independent use of specific transfer methods.

The Chair of Business Administration, in particular Sustainability Management, is active in the innovation area of Sustainability & Resource Efficiency, which supports regional actors in their efforts towards sustainable and resource-conserving management and sustainable innovations through the use of digitalization and automation.
