The “Smart batch processes in the energy system of the future” project funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation focuses on sustainability assessment and the development of a circular economy in batch processes with a renewable electricity supply. Among other things, research is to be carried out into how resource efficiency in industrial production with a renewable energy supply can be transferred into sustainable business models.
Various methods and topics will be used here, such as the use (and further development) of life cycle analyses and sustainability assessments in order to identify potential CO2 savings. In addition, circular business models that address the marketing of products generated with renewable energy will be analyzed. The influence of digitalization and regulation will also be examined in this context.
