Master Theses

1. Application and procedure

  • The previous participation in the master seminar is a prerequisite to writing a master thesis at the chair.
  • To apply, you have to complete the application form (LINK) in time (until the start of the lecture period of the current semester) and send it via email to accounting@wiwi.uni-kl.de. You will then receive feedback on short notice.
  • Within the first two weeks of the semester, there will be a joint kick-off meeting for accepted students, which will cover the basics for the thesis and clarify any questions.
  • After the kick-off meeting, there is an initial meeting with the supervisor to further discuss the topic.
  • Approximately halfway through the semester, an interim presentation is scheduled.
  • The duration of the thesis and the deadline for submission are determined by the examination regulations and the registration date - as a rule, the duration is typically at least 6 months, since experimental theses are the standard at the chair.
  • After submission of the thesis, the final presentation takes place at the beginningof the following semester.

2. General conditions

  • Theses at the chair have to be written in English.
  • Typically, only experimental or survey-based theses are accepted - you will learn the necessary basics in the master seminar.
  • Theses in conjucstion with cooperators from the industy are possible in principle. However, this comes with special challenges and must therefore be discussed individually with us before registering the master's thesis. Please contact us if you are interested in writing such a thesis.

3. Submission

  • In due time (at the end of the official duration), each student has to hand in the following material:
    • By email: The thesis must be sent to the supervisor as PDF and DOC(X). Also the raw data (incl. explanations of variables) of the survey or experiment, if applicable.
    • Two hardcover/physical copies of the thesis must be submitted to the relevant examination office or sent by the deadline (please check with examination office for details on postal delivery).

4. Templates

  •   Word format templates as well as further instructions for theses will be made available.
