Bachelor Theses

Application and allocation take place via the regular process of the department on KIS.

1. Application and procedure

  • Applications for Bachelor's theses at the department usually take place in the last week before the start of the lectures. Further information can be found on the department's website: https://wiwi.rptu.de/en/study/all-about-studies/hints-for-taking-exams
  • You will then receive information on acceptance or rejection at the beginning of the lecture period.
  • A joint kick-off meeting for admitted students takes place in the first few weeks of the semester.
  • During this meeting, students can submit their own topic suggestions. Alternatively, the topics are suggestions from the Chair. The latter topics are usually from our current research interests.
  • The processing time and submission deadline depend on the examination regulations and the registration date - typically, the processing time is 3 months.
  • The scope is approx. 35 pages (+/- 10%).

2. General conditions

  • Theses at the chair can be written in English or German. (We recommend writing your thesis in English).
  • Research-oriented literature theses are regularly assigned.
  • Theses in cooperation with practice are not possible for Bachelor's theses due to the short processing time.
  • A topic can only be worked on by one single person at a time.

3. Final presentations

All students present the results of their work in a colloquium towards the end of the semester.

4. Submission

Each student must submit the following materials by the end of the processing time:

  • By e-mail: The thesis must be sent in PDF and DOC(X) to the supervisor.
  • Submit two hardcover / physical copies of the thesis to the responsible examination office or send them by the deadline. (Please clarify details for postal delivery with the examination office.)

5. Templates

Word templates and further information for theses will be provided.
