Bachelor Theses

Application and assignment follow a centralized process of the department (via KIS).

1. Application and process

  •   The application for bachelor theses of the department usually takes place in the final week before the start of lectures
of a given semester. Please inform yourself on the homepage of the
      department: wiwi.uni-kl.de/en/study/all-about-studies/hints-for-taking-exams/seite.
  •   At the beginning of the lecture period you will receive the acceptance or rejection decision.
  •   Within the first two weeks of the semester there is a joint kick-off meeting for accepted students.
  •   During the kick-off session, there will also be a selection of topics that will be allocated among the students.
The topics are basically within the research focus of the chair. Students' own suggestions and wishes
will be taken into consideration, if possible.
  •   The duration and deadline are determined by the examination regulations and the registration date - as a rule,
the duration is typically at least 2-3 months.
  •   Length is approximately 35 pages (+/- 10%)

2. General conditions

  •   Theses at the chair are usually to be written in English. (On request also in German,
but we recommend writing the paper in English)
  •   Research-oriented literature papers are regularly assigned.
  •   Theses in conjunction with firms are not possible for Bachelor theses due to the short duration.
  •   There is a predefined number of topics, which are allocated among the accepted students. A topic can only be
  •   worked on by one person at a time.

3. Final presentations

At the end of the semester, all students present the results of their work in a colloquium.

4. Submission

The following material will need to be submitted by each student in time (by the end of the official duration):

  •   By email: The final paper must be sent to the supervisor as a PDF and DOC(X).
  •   Two hardcover/physical copies of the thesis must be handed in to the responsible examination office
or sent in by the deadline (please check with examination office for details on postal delivery).

5. Templates

Word format templates as well as further instructions for theses will be available.
