Master's profile areas and specialisations

The Master's programme builds directly on the content of the previous Bachelor's programme, but gives you greater freedom and takes your specialist interests into account. For example, you can choose a specialisation area from a wide range of topics in the economics part of the Master's degree programme. The economics curriculum is supplemented by compulsory modules in qualitative or quantitative methods and a compulsory business internship.
The economics specialisation is chosen from a profile area.
The Management profile area can be selected:
The profile area Accounting and Finance can be chosen:
The Intelligence, Logistics & Operations profile area can be selected:
The Economics profile area can be selected:
In addition, a seminar with 4 ECTS credits must be taken from one of the two chosen subject areas. The subjects already chosen in the Bachelor's degree programme can be continued or new subjects can be started.
Research-based learning forms an important pillar of the Master's degree programme with seminars, a research project and the Master's thesis.
The Master's programme builds on the subject areas you already know from your Bachelor's programme and deepens the technical and business content in the curriculum to roughly the same extent. You keep your chosen technical specialisation. However, thanks to our wide range of options, you are free to put together your own individual course of study according to your interests and career plans.
To give you a real-world perspective, a business internship is a compulsory part of the programme. Here you can put your theoretical knowledge to the test in practice and gain valuable insights into the world of work. There is also the option to take part in a research project to deepen your skills in scientific work.
In terms of methodology, the four-semester Master's programme at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics takes your personal responsibility and independence into account by switching to research-based learning: The focus here is on independent research achievements in the form of a seminar paper, a research project and your final Master's thesis.
An economic internship of 12 weeks is required for your Master's degree programme in Industrial Engineering and Management. You should be aware of this:
This internship is an integral part of your degree programme and should be completed before you graduate.
Are you perhaps wondering what added value a business internship can have during your WI degree programme? Let me show you why this experience is so worthwhile:
