Master of Business Administration

The Master's degree programme in Business Administration is a research-oriented academic degree programme that leads to a second academic degree qualifying for a profession. The Master's degree programme is part of the consecutive Bachelor's-Master's degree programme and aims to enable students to work scientifically and methodically, to impart theoretical and analytical skills and to enable them to adapt openly and creatively to new conditions in professional life and to critically classify and apply scientific knowledge in a targeted manner. Students acquire the specialist, methodological and interdisciplinary skills required to deal with new complex tasks and problems and to work independently in research or in a strategy-orientated professional field. They can use these to fulfil practical professional tasks and justify and reflect on their own actions, orientated towards goals and standards within and outside academia. Graduates also identify deficits and gaps in existing scientific communication and (research) practice. They develop and communicate their own solutions. The Master's degree programme in Business Administration is aimed at outstanding Bachelor's graduates from academic universities in Germany and abroad and focuses on consolidating and expanding the skills and specialist knowledge acquired on the Bachelor's degree programme. The Master's programme creates the prerequisites for entry into a management position in both private and public companies. Depending on the chosen specialisation, graduates have a wide range of career opportunities in all sectors. In addition, the Master's degree opens the door to an academic career at universities and research institutions and qualifies graduates for a doctorate.

Why is there no study plan in the Master's programme?

Our Master's programmes offer you the opportunity to customise your course of study. In such cases, a study plan that is too rigid could leave you less room for personal interests or additional research opportunities. Our range of modules in the Master's programme is so extensive and varied that an individual study plan can be created for each student. Plan your individual study plan over the next four semesters, including whether the selected courses can be taken without overlap.

Current PO changes

The appendix of the Wahl- und Pflichmodule (Elective and compulsory modules) is updated every semester.

No further changes are currently planned.

Compulsory or elective module Research project

The research project is a study-accompanying form of course that particularly enables independent and coordinated work on related topics or problem contexts according to the chosen degree programme in the field of economics, individually or as group work (usually up to a maximum of four students). A research project should not exceed the duration of two semesters. An interdisciplinary research project can be approved on application. The examination board decides on the approval and subject classification of the research project when the application is submitted. The examiner adds the topic of the research project and the date of issue to the application for the research project, signs it and forwards it to the Department of Examination Affairs without delay.

There are no other requirements in terms of content or form.

The research project has 9 CP (scope: 270 h) and can be included in the elective area of the Business Administration and Business Administration and Technology degree programmes.

The research project is compulsory for industrial engineering students and the following applies: the study/research project must be carried out in the respective other area (economic or technical), like the Bachelor's/Master's thesis. Exception: interdisciplinary work.

Registration for the semester-accompanying (combined) portfolio examinations

Registration for the semester-accompanying (combined) portfolio examinations is required at the beginning of the lecture period. There is a form for this purpose, which must be submitted to the module coordinator by the date set by him/her.
