Review of the SIAK Platform Sustainability event on the topic of sustainability as a career path - Network. Inspire. Change

On February 5, 2025, the networking event "Sustainability as a career path" took place at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau under the motto "Network. Inspire. Change." took place. Together with the Science and Innovation Alliance Kaiserslautern e. V., students and companies were offered a platform to exchange ideas about career prospects in the field of sustainability. Around 30 participants from science and industry took the opportunity to make contacts and discuss specific career opportunities.

After a welcoming address by Prof. Dr. Katharina Spraul, the event began with a keynote speech by Dr. Cynthia Loos, who provided valuable insights into the challenges and strategies CSR managers use to gain internal legitimacy. She showed how CSR managers navigate between profitability pressure and sustainability goals, which legitimization strategies they use to secure their role and resources in companies, and what role their professional self-perception plays in this. The subsequent award ceremony for the best sustainability management students of the past two semesters recognized outstanding academic achievements and underlined the growing importance of this research group.

This was followed by a lively exchange between the participants. Students and company representatives quickly got talking, discussing possible career paths, vacancies and theses in the field of sustainability. The relaxed atmosphere facilitated valuable contacts and exciting insights into practice. The direct dialog between science and business once again highlighted the great interest in networking and sustainable career paths.
