Publication on the credibility of sources: Practical help for companies in the context of the LkSG

01. January 2025

As part of a collaboration between the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Sustainability Management, at RPTU and HORNBACH, a practice-oriented guide to assessing the credibility of sources has been developed. This publication addresses one of the central challenges of the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG): the evaluation of data sources in the context of global supply chains.

The guide is based on a qualitative study in which experts from the fields of journalism and management consulting were interviewed. The aim was to identify criteria for assessing the credibility of sources and compile them in a clear checklist. This supports companies in carrying out well-founded risk analyses and meeting the requirements of the LkSG.

In addition to essential criteria such as objectivity, independence and transparency, the guidelines also offer supplementary criteria such as timeliness and consistency, which help companies to evaluate their sources systematically and effectively.

The publication of this checklist represents an important step towards promoting transparency and credibility within the framework of the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act. It provides companies with a practical tool that not only improves the quality of their risk analyses, but also facilitates compliance with legal requirements. With this guide, the cooperation between the RPTU and HORNBACH is making a valuable contribution to the sustainable design of global supply chains.
