New publication: Future-proof production: smart and sustainable

In the current issue of the journal Ökologisches Wirtschaften, we were able to present the third-party funded project "Smart Batch Processes in the Energy System of the Future", which is funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation. The project investigates how industrial batch processes can be made more flexible in order to adapt them to fluctuating energy availability and enable sustainable and economical production. The article highlights both the technological challenges and innovative solutions for the energy-efficient design of production processes. It also highlights the opportunities of the circular economy in this context.

The publication was produced in collaboration with Prof. Daniel Görges, Prof. Erik von Harbou, Marco Kiehl, Prof. Florian Sahling and Prof. Katharina Spraul and underlines the good interdisciplinary cooperation in the project.
